These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the VFJ newsletter and related website and services (together, the "Service"). By subscribing to or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Free Digest — the free weekly email digest.
Paid Subscription — the paid daily newsletter, available on a monthly or annual basis.
Subscriber / you — any person who signs up for the Free Digest or a Paid Subscription.
Content — all newsletters, text, curation, compilations, branding and other materials made available through the Service.
Listings — job opportunities and related information featured in the Service.
VFJ curates and delivers information about jobs at venture-capital firms and venture-backed startups, aimed at job seekers in the European VC and startup ecosystem. The Service consists of:
a Free Digest delivered weekly; and
a Paid Subscription delivering a daily newsletter.
We may change the format, frequency, scope or features of the Service over time (see clause 12).
Listings are aggregated from third-party and publicly available sources. We curate and present them for your convenience, but:
we do not verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, legitimacy, or current availability of any Listing or employer;
a role may already be filled, withdrawn, or changed by the time you see it;
VFJ is not an employment agency, recruitment agency, uitzendbureau, or intermediary, is not a party to any application or employment relationship, and has no agency relationship with the employers featured; and
any decision to apply for, or rely on, a Listing is made at your own risk.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to purchase a Paid Subscription. The Free Digest is intended for users of 16 years or older. By subscribing, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet these requirements.
You subscribe by providing your email address and, optionally, your function and geographic preferences, via our signup form. We process this data in accordance with our Privacy Notice, which forms part of your relationship with us but is a separate document.
The Paid Subscription is offered at:
€9 per month; or
€90 per year.
All prices are inclusive of VAT. Where Dutch VAT applies, the Paid Subscription is treated as an electronic periodical subject to the reduced rate (currently 9%). The VAT actually charged is shown at checkout and may depend on your location and applicable law.
Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us (via Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method for the applicable fee, and for each automatic renewal, until you cancel.
Paid Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period — monthly subscriptions renew each month, and annual subscriptions renew each year — at the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will charge your payment method on file at each renewal.
We may change subscription prices. Any price change will not affect your current billing period; we will give you reasonable advance notice by email before a changed price applies to a renewal, and you may cancel before the renewal if you do not accept the new price.
If a payment fails, we may retry, suspend, or cancel your access to the Paid Subscription. You remain responsible for amounts properly due for periods already provided.
You may cancel your Paid Subscription at any time, effective at the end of your current billing period. You keep access to the Paid Subscription until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not, by itself, entitle you to a refund for the current period (but see your statutory right of withdrawal in clause 8).
Where this option is offered through our newsletter platform, you may be able to pause your subscription instead of cancelling.
You can cancel or manage your subscription using the link in our emails or by contacting us at [email protected].
If you are a consumer in the EU, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days, without giving any reason. The withdrawal period expires 14 days after the day the contract is concluded.
To exercise your right of withdrawal, tell us your decision by a clear statement — for example by email to [email protected] — before the 14-day period ends. You may, but are not required to, use the EU model withdrawal form. We will confirm receipt of your withdrawal.
We begin providing the Service as soon as your Paid Subscription starts. If you withdraw within the 14-day period, we will refund the full amount you have paid, without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we are informed of your withdrawal, using the same means of payment you used. You will not be charged for the part of the Service provided before your withdrawal.
Outside your statutory right of withdrawal (clause 8), Paid Subscription fees are non-refundable for any partial or unused period, except where required by applicable law. We may, at our discretion, offer a goodwill refund or credit. This clause does not affect your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.
The Service is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
redistribute, resell, republish, or commercially exploit the Content, in whole or in substantial part;
share Paid Subscription Content with non-subscribers beyond ordinary, occasional personal sharing;
use any automated means (scraping, crawling, bots) to access, copy, or extract the Content or Listings;
use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that harms the Service or other users.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach this clause.
The Service — including the VFJ name, branding, layout, curation, compilation, and original editorial Content — is owned by Igor Curic / Venture Funded Jobs and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and read the Content for your own use, subject to these Terms. Third-party content within Listings remains the property of its respective owners.
We may modify, add to, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time. Where we make a material change that adversely affects an active Paid Subscription, we will give you reasonable notice and, where appropriate, allow you to cancel and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused part of your current period.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
the Service and the Listings are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including as to accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose;
we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, loss of opportunity, or any loss arising from your reliance on, or use of, any Listing or third-party content; and
our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the total fees you paid to us for the Paid Subscription in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the liability.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for intent or deliberate recklessness (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid), for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or under mandatory consumer-protection law. Your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these Terms.
You may end your relationship with us at any time by unsubscribing from the Free Digest and/or cancelling your Paid Subscription. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or where we are required to do so by law. Clauses that by their nature should survive termination (including clauses 3.1, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 16) will continue to apply.
If you have a complaint, please contact us first at [email protected] — we aim to resolve issues directly and promptly. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may, as an EU consumer, be entitled to refer the dispute to a competent national alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body. Information about consumer redress and the relevant national bodies is available via the European Commission's consumer-redress information pages. (The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 and is no longer available.)
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, this does not affect your right to bring proceedings in, or be sued only in, the courts of your country of habitual residence where applicable law so provides.
Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a new effective date and, for material changes affecting a Paid Subscription, notify you by email. Material changes take effect at your next renewal or after reasonable notice; if you do not accept them, you may cancel before they take effect.
Severability. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer ours in connection with a reorganisation or transfer of the business, without reducing your rights.
Language. These Terms are provided in English. Where required, your mandatory consumer rights under Dutch and EU law apply regardless of the language of these Terms.
Contact. For any questions about these Terms, contact us at [email protected].
